Day 4 in Osaka 玩游大阪 DAY 4

We actually supposed to go to Universal Studios Japan (USJ) on this day but when we arrived there were way too many people so we decided to change our plan for the day.

After much deliberation, we decided to go to Shinsekai. We switched the itinerary for our last day to this day. There was not much planned for our last day, it was essentially a lot of free time.

When we arrived at Shinsekai, it was kind of deserted. The shops here all looked really pretty with all of the eye-catching signboards and mascots. I have to say that Japan shops' have awesome signboards and cute mascots. I wish Malaysia would practise this, but that seem highly unlikely.

After walking for a while, we arrived at Tsutenkaku Tower. It looked impressive and you actually can go up to its observation deck, but we didn't go up because we have to pay to go up.

After Shinsekai, we walked to Denden Town, the heaven for anime and electronics. My brother is an anime fan so he told me he wanted to come here before we left Malaysia. My brother said he wanted to go merchandise hunting because Japan is the after all the holy land of anime.

We were there quite early so some shops were not open yet but that did not deter us. We decided to have breakfast while we wait. We went into a chain restaurant, which I can't remember the name of. At this point, I was starting to be a bit lazy with the recording. I swear, next trip I would do a better job. Here was what we had for breakfast:

Since my brother would require a lot of time since he wanted to take his time searching for stuff, Chin Yee begged off because she's not as crazy about it all. I decided to tag along with my brother. Although I'm not crazy about anime enough to fork out that much money for figurines and stuff, I still like looking at the detail and beauty of figurines and other merchandise.

Most of the shops in Denden Town sells electronics, DVDs, anime merchandise and were very impressive. Unlike the shops in Malaysia, there could be a building with 5 floors just selling anime goods. Anime shops in Malaysia tend to be small and limited, whereas I really enjoyed wandering around and looking at all the amazing anime goods around Denden Town. I would also like to tell you that there were a lot of ero stuff around too, so be warned.

We are after all in otaku's paradise, so it wasn't weird that there were a lot of maid cafes around. We wandered into one called Mel Cafe. The cafe was quite empty when we arrived and there were only two maids on duty.

When you're in a maid cafe, of course you have to order omurice! One of the maid, Harami drew on the omurice with ketchup. I have to say she must have had a lot of practice because it was adorable!

My bother ordered omurice ( ¥850) and a drink (¥600), while Chin Yee and I shared a slice of cake (¥500). I just have to remind you that a maid cafe is usually for the experience of being served by maids so don't have too high of an expectation for the food.

After our meal, we asked for a photo (¥500) with the maid that served us.

After leaving the maid cafe, my brother, ChinYee and I split into two groups. I followed my brother as we explored Denden Town while Chin Yee went to a temple nearby. We promised to meet us for dinner at ¥100 sushi shop near our apartment.

Honestly, my brother and I were so busy looking at stuff in Denden Town that I did not take that much pictures. Here are some anyways:

Here are some pictures of slightly ero stuff and downright ero:

While walking around, I spotted a shop selling these One Piece biscuits and I was tricked into buying one set. These taste awful and honestly didn't look that good, but I was suckered into buying them and I had to eat every single one...sob...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After walking until our feet hurt, we went back to the apartment. When we arrived, Chin Yee was still asleep. We actually went to the sushi shop that was near our apartment a few days ago but it was packed. This time, we did not want a repeat of what happened so we woke her up. From there, Chin Yee, my brother and I walked to the sushi shop near the apartment. When we got there, it was packed. However, not as packed as the other day.

The sushi was okay, it wasn't great but then again it was only ¥100. Most of the stuff on the menu is ¥100 and the restaurant have this cute electric waiter (an electronic tray on wheels) that sends you food instead of actual waiters. They do have waiters but most of what you'd order would come on the electronic tray with wheels. We ordered via screen so it was really convenient. The restaurant also had this system where you can put your sushi plates into a slot when you're done. After 5 plates, you would see an animation of a character trying to do something. If the character is successful, you would get a capsule toy; if the character fails, you get nothing. We actually managed to try our luck a few times, but we only succeeded once. We got a Detective Conan key-chain.

There weren't much picture taken during this day, so we end this post with a picture of my brother as a sumo wrestler!
