虽然我们应该用新的角度眼光来看一部新电影，但对于新版的《神鬼传奇》，很抱歉我们做不到。那部新电影真的太让我们震惊了，为了压压惊，我们找出了我们心目中的经典 - 1999年的《神鬼传奇》系列的第一部来重温。

First off, this version was way better. It was fun and action-packed and still made me laugh unlike the recent one that fell flat. It also had romance that I can get behind of. These elements are the things that we wanted from the new reboot and didn’t get. Sure, the CGI in the reboot was better but then you have to remember the Brendan version was made in the 90’s and it was awesome.
In this movie, we actually spent the entire movie in Egypt and we get to see mummies!!! Not some weird version of a mummy masquerading as zombies.Then again, they are both rotting corpse... Anyway, the mummy in this version was a priest so he did magic spells and had awesome powers. I also love the fact that they brought out the plagues and man-eating bugs. If I remember correctly, the reboot had crows and maybe one bug? I can't even remember and I'm glad I don't remember much.
两部电影在开头都分别交代了一些故事背景，而两部的手法很不一样。新版的故事让我看了有点昏头转向，如果不是仔细看的话，我会错过了一些情节。旧版的就非常明瞭，直接了当地诉说了国王的女人和祭司之间的偷情以及被处罚且诅咒的下场。
少了黄沙刮风骆驼的电影还算是木乃伊电影吗？或许导演想要拍出这种不同的感觉吧，但是电影里最最最普遍的诅咒、咒语以及木乃伊军团呢？
新版的别说是咒语了，连个埃及语都没听到几句，只看到一个疯婆子到处寻找物资来复活死神，就好像玩游戏那样，只要收集了主要的物品，就能召唤强大的帮手了。而那些所谓的木乃伊也和僵尸没两样，更加别提耐打程度了。
旧版在这方面就做得很足，大大满足了观众的胃口，诅咒、咒语、成群的木乃伊甚至是满屋子的黄金。沉睡已久的木乃伊祭司需要靠咒语才能复活，而且完全复活后，还能拥有强大的法力，这时就会需要另一句咒语来召唤地狱使者前来夺走法力。木乃伊军团也都在随时待命，只要祭司或念咒者的命令，它们都会执行到底。那些木乃伊还非常耐打，断脚的还能用手，断头还在乱乱转，让人紧张之余还搞笑。
Besides that, I like Brendan’s character so much more than Tom Cruise’s character. Brendan pulled it off beautifully whereas I couldn’t care less about Tom Cruise’s character. I love that Rick was loyal, honorable and funny. He made the audience care and genuinely liked his character. Another bonus was that the female lead, Evelyn does not annoy me like Jenny. In fact, I like her. She’s clumsy and cute and had more personality than Jenny, who felt so one note.
I also love the fact that fact that Rick and Evelyn’s chemistry was way better than Nick and Jenny from the Mummy reboot. I mean Nick and Jenny just felt awkward, while I find Rick and Evelyn kinda cute. I like the interaction between Rick and Evelyn from how Evelyn was crushing on Rick and then Rick liked her back.
Since this was made in the 90’s, it had the 90’s vibe to it, which I actually love. However, this movie is not without flaw. These are just some details that I’m nitpicking because I honestly like this movie franchise. Well…at least until the sequel. I’m gonna pretend the third one didn’t exist.
In the scene when the pharaoh went to catch Imhotep in an illicit affair with his mistress, I was like ‘Why is the pharaoh alone? Don’t pharaohs have bodyguards?’ They only appear after the pharaoh is dead, like Where were you guys? You suck at your job! I mean, what’s the point of bodyguard if you’re not around at the most important time? Then, there’s also the first mummy they found, there was no way fingernails could make marks that deep in metal.
In addition to that, why use the Hom Dai curse? I mean that’s just asking for trouble. If her arise brings the 10 plagues of Egypt. Is the pro really more than the con? And since we’re on the subject, what is the pro? Another thing was saying that the bugs would eat a human slowly in the coffin-things but yet they ear people like piranhas outside. There was also the scene where after escaping through a sewer, they somehow have the car that they abandoned.
一个好的队伍需要负责打斗的战士、用头脑辅助的学者、了解来龙去脉的有关系者，还有就是几个拖后腿的小角色。旧版在这方面的分配都很明确明瞭，每个人知道自己该做什么。当学者在研究时，战士就挡在前面杀敌，而小角色就到处乱跑来分散注意力。
新版的相对之下，角色分配就有点模糊了，好像每个人都是每个人，那个人都不是那个人的感觉。角色的任务分配的不够明确，总会让我混淆到底谁才是站在前线的。
最重要的是两部电影所带出来的感觉，旧版的是神秘感，但新版的却是恐怖感。
埃及之所以神秘是因为它拥有太多我们没办法参透的文化，为何制造木乃伊、咒语、诅咒、仪式、回魂术，这些都是需要在深入研究的部分。它的神秘让我们对他敬而远之，让我们和揭开这些神秘面纱的人感同身受，深怕他们会受到什么危险。那是一种恐惧感，打从心底发麻的恐惧，甚至是那片黄沙下的生物都能让我们惊声连连。
我印象最深刻的就是祭司的法力，他召唤出无数的昆虫来协助他控制人类、吞食人类，控制黄沙掀起刮风来阻止主角，以及很多很多灾害都从他那个张得很大很大的嘴里出现。
新版的恰恰少了这部分，它没有埃及的神秘感，只让我感觉恐怖。为什么？因为僵尸一直出来大叫吓人，时不时就“啊”的一声然后就突然弹起。而女主角也好像没什么强大法力，掀起的风沙也只是吓人程度，并不足以吞噬人。
最让我无言的就是男主角了，为什么被死神附身后还能不被控制啊？那不是死神吗，是最强大的不是吗？如果是这样的话，那女主角直接找男主角就好了啊，为何还要费劲去召唤死神呢？

Anyway, I still forgive those flaws because it was still a better movie than The Mummy (2017). If you want to have fun or just needed to erase the bad taste of horrible reboot, you should definitely watch this version.
这两部电影被比较过后，我还是喜欢旧版的。就算撇开故事情节背景或角色的分配不说，旧版还是有一点吸引我，那就是他们所用的灯光非常好，好到我知道自己在看什么。现在很多电影都拍得乌漆麻黑的，根本就看不到在演什么，更别说那些黑暗中的打斗了，我得等天亮才会知道是谁赢了。
