如果不是因为倩雯得到免费的戏票，我想我这辈子都不会去看这部电影，这类型的电影并不是我的首选或选择。
但，我一直都很想接触更多异国电影，所以也没多抗拒就去看了。

The movie was set in Australia and there is a racist undercurrent in its society. Rex, the protagonist lives in a town in the middle of nowhere. He works as a taxi driver and has cancer. This movie is about his quest to die with dignity or so the movie led us to believe. When his cancer came back, the doctors only gave him a few months to live but Rex refuse to stay in the hospital. Coincidentally, he saw an article about euthanasia and wanted to die on his own terms. At that time, euthanasia was not legal yet but he didn't care and drove the entire way to Darwin to die.
Racism undercurrents can be seen throughout the movie. Rex was in love with his neighbour but hides it because she has a different shade of skin. Pubs and restaurants treat people who are not white differently. In the movie, Rex insists that he has no one but we see his friends and Polly, his neighbour that cares for him. The movie also deals with the issue of the morality of euthanasia, which I can understand. The morality of taking a life versus the need to die on your own terms.
As he travels to Darwin, Rex became a news sensation as the man driving to his death. However, he had a change of heart at the end and heads back to Polly. The movie ends with the Rex and Polly sitting on the porch and looking happy.
整部电影的重点都围绕在主角Rex的身上，他已患了重病并打算自我了断。他没有选择传统的自杀，而是找了一位一直在想办法将安乐死合法化的医生，且愿意当第一位志愿者。在前往那个城市的路上，他遇到了很多人，感化了某些人，也开始正视自己内心深处的渴望。然而，到了那里后，他还是没有自我了断，他选择了回家。
电影说了很多人生的无可奈何，但也告诉我们其实很多事情只要你肯踏出一步，事情就会变得很不一样。如果没有勇气，就只能接受当下。
Rex踏出了他觉得自己想要的那一步，并无视其他人的劝阻。他一直觉得这就是他要的结局，义无反顾地去完成它。到了最后一刻，他才真正地正视自己的内心，去做一件自己应该早就完成的事情--他回到了最爱的人身边。
安乐死是Rex所选择的最后一条路，他没办法接受自己需要一直等待死亡，所以他想去迎接死亡。或许这不是电影最主要的信息，但我很看重这一块。我个人一直都很赞成安乐死，也很赞成人在病入膏肓的时候都有选择死亡的权利。
有人把安乐死看作自杀，看作不珍惜尊重自己的生命，甚至以宗教来说，它是不被允许的。不过，我还是希望在我年迈时，如果已经病得只能躺在床上，我能够自由地选择我的死亡。
Overall, the movie is not my cup of tea and really slow-paced. I can appreciate that the movie itself is a good movie, but just not my kind of thing.
整体来说，这部电影还是值得一看，它会让你开始反思自己。如果能够做出一点改变，你就会更好。
